Throughout his legal career,Cohen has been recognized and awarded by numerous
professional organizations and associations. He is a current member of
the New Jersey State Bar Association and has also acted as theChair of
Public Education for the Mercer County Bar Association, Chair of the National
Nursing Home Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice,
and National Chair of the American Association for Justice – Sections
and Litigation Group Coordination Committee.
Professional Speaking Engagements
Cohen has built much of his reputation as a frequent speaker at keynote
legal seminars and gatherings. He is most often called upon for his insight
into nursing home abuse cases, but he has also spoken numerous times about
broader legal topics, such as evidence collection, MDS analysis and practical
applications for a client’s case. To date, he has served as the
Chair of more than 35 national- and state-level instructional attorney
seminars, including seminars for groups such as The American Association
for Justice, The New Jersey Association for Justice and The New Jersey
Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
Mr. Cohen currently holds three professional Bar Admissions: New Jersey;
Unites States District Court, District of New Jersey; and United States
Courts of Appeals, Third Circuit.
Cohen began his education at George Washington University, where he earned
his B.A. in Economics and Philosophy in 1986. He continued by attending
Rutgers University School of Law – Camden, where he completed his
J.D. in 1989.
Publications & Pioneering Efforts
With his reputation and knowledge about nursing home cases, Cohen was the
first attorney in New Jersey to create a CLE seminar focused on litigation
against negligence and abuse in nursing homes. After the initial CLE seminar
was a success, he presented similar seminars annually for more than 20
