Senator Daylin Leach will be holding a conference on the newly emerging
medical marijuana industry in Pennsylvania as part of a plan to make recommendations
to the Wolf Administration regarding the implementation of Act 16, the
state’s recently-passed medical marijuana legislation. The conference,
dubbed “Daylin Leach’s Medical Marijuana Regulatory-Palooza,”
is to be an invite-only event of roughly 300 professionals and experts
in the cannabis industry and will be held Friday, July 8th, 2016, from 9:00am to 4:15pm at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
The conference will be different in format from many other marijuana seminars
in that it will primarily serve as a venue for debate among attendees.
Prospective attendees are encouraged to complete an online survey and
submit their input regarding which topics should be discussed, with the
most useful suggestions being used to shape the focus of the conference’s
24 discussions. The event is sure to be an excellent opportunity for a
wide range of stakeholders to participate in compelling argument on how
to best regulate and improve the medical marijuana industry in Pennsylvania
moving forward. Patients, doctors, growers, dispensers, attorneys, investors,
state and local officials, marijuana regulators from other states, and
representatives from the Wolf Administration itself are all anticipated
to be in attendance.
Following the conference, Senator Leach will oversee the drafting of a
report offering recommendations for the state’s permanent medical
marijuana regulations. He hopes that these recommendations will serve
as a template for medical marijuana regulations throughout the nation.
Senator Leach was instrumental in getting the passage of the Act. Attorney
Andrew Sacks helped in his efforts through ATACH, the lobby group that
has now become the trade organization for Pennsylvania. Attorney Sacks
will be attending the conference as the sole lawyer in PA ATACH.
